The suicide of “this” Europe that produces death and poverty

and so Europe has finally found a rare unity of purpose: we need to rearm…

not on the redevelopment of the agri-food sector, not on supporting domestic industry that would go along with a grand plan for a green revolution that would unshackle us from the old fossil fuels, not on creating an independence of the chemical-pharmaceutical sector from non-European multinationals (but didn’t the terrible coronavirus crisis really teach us anything?), not on establishing a “silicon valley” model that would create European giants to fight Asian and North American ones on an equal footing…

no: The Fear, the chase to fill us with weapons, which are increasingly expensive and devastating, will make us stronger and safer. certainly even poorer, much poorer.

I wonder: after we’ve filled our new and glittering armies with missiles, mines, drones, fighters and aircraft carriers… we’ll have to maintain production, right?

and so we will have to find an enemy, and use all these weapons.

but isn’t Peace one of the founding values of our Constitutive Charter?

or is “Europe” really just a pathetic dream of us usual dreamers without any contact with reality?

mala tempora…

(may all of you forgive my terrible English…)
